The Michigander Bicycle Tour

Sat July 14 - Sat July 21 Cheboygan, MI 49721 US Directions

2018 Routes

North Central Michigan is home to excellent trails and towns to be explored on the 27th Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour. Featured towns include Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Cross Village, Harbor Springs, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Petoskey, and all points in between stretching from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.

Many of these trails make up a portion of the Great Lake to Lake Trails Route #3 and the Iron Belle Trail. Because of the expanse of this trail network, there are also ample opportunities for cyclists who like a longer ride to easily take on more miles than the planned routes each day.

An additional option to tour car-free Mackinac Island will give Michigander riders the ability to explore the route around the shoreline at 8.2 miles or up to 70 miles of trails in the interior through Mackinac Island State Park. Mackinac Island is considered “One of the Top Ten Islands in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler and National Geographic, it is not to be missed.

The Top of Michigan Trails Council manages a fantastic network of trails that cover nearly 300 miles of Northern Michigan. Cyclists will experience the following trails:

  • North Central State Trail-hard-packed crushed limestone and paved
  • North Eastern State Trail-hard-packed crushed limestone
  • North Western State Trail-hard-packed crushed limestone
  • Little Traverse Wheelway-paved
  • Burt Lake Trail-ard-packed crushed limestone and paved
  • Charlevoix Township Bike Path-paved and boardwalk
  • Petoskey City Trails-paved
  • And paved backroads on select days of the 6-Day and 8-Day Tour

We recommend your tires be at least 700 x 35 or 26 x 1.5

Know that routes are tentative as we are tweaking them as we work with the county road commissions and police departments to ensure a great and safe ride.

All registrants will be provided with a printed Ride Book that has all of the printed routes along with things to see and do along the way. This is primarily a trail ride, with some days where we utilize roads.
