Safety
Chris and Mitchell, as well as the Village of Granville, Granville Township, McKean Township, and Licking County take safety extremely seriously. We are developing a race plan designed to keep everyone safe. The race is clockwise to minimize left turns, and every turn on the course will have either a Police Officer or Sheriff’s Deputy stationed with flashing lights. The Dry Creek crossing of the state route will have two Sheriff’s Deputies who will stop traffic as riders come through. The start/finish area on Broadway will be completely closed to traffic, with no parked cars in the area to ensure rider and spectator safety. Each race will have a lead car as well as a USA Cycling official following behind. EMS services who are trained to respond to cycling specific incidents will be on site. Race in progress signs, any necessary barricades, mailers for residents along the route, and township notifications will be used for enhanced safety. Lastly, a race preview video is available on the website to give riders the most information possible about what they will encounter on race day.
