Description

Overview

Annual ride in remembrance of Man Kit So: husband, father, grandfather, and #1 handyman.

Thank you for your interest in joining or supporting us for the annual memorial ride for Man Kit So! Each year, we'll set out on a ride (or rides) to celebrate and remember my father on his birthday, August 2nd, and ride the number of miles for each year he would have celebrated. An in-person ride will be planned and shared in the Bay Area each year, but we also invite others around the world to log the same number of miles over the course of one week between July 26 through August 2 each year.

About Man Kit So

Man Kit So was born in Hong Kong on August 2, 1952, to Hon Chiu So and Wai Ying Cheung. After graduating high school in Hong Kong, Man worked as an accountant at the Hong Kong Post Office for over 20 years. In 1991, he immigrated with his wife and two sons to the U.S. and settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1992, Man and his wife opened a family restaurant, which they owned and operated until his retirement in 2010.

Man was a very capable and ingenious handyman, volunteering his time and skills on numerous home improvement projects for both friends and family. He also enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, and exercising daily. During retirement, Man relished spending time with his family and loved helping raise his grandchildren. Man taught his sons many things, including how to ride a bike. In fact, he taught is youngest son, Jon, twice. He first attempted when he was in elementary school, but after a couple accidents, his son tossed in the towel. In seventh grade, Jon was ready to try again, and Man jumped at the opportunity to help him and succeeded.

Please join us on an annual memorial ride to celebrate Man's life and dedication to his family by joining the ride or supporting a rider by donating as we raise funds for The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights
