Celebrating Black Excellence Bike Ride 2022

February marks Black History Month, an annual observance to remember and honor African Americans and events that left a mark on American history. These marks have changed the course of many social justice revolutions across the nation. And that is why Blessed2bfit is excited to introduce this virtual bike ride in collaboration with Black Girls Do Bike and the Harvey Family Foundation to honor and celebrate those extraordinary individuals who changed the course for many social justice revolutions across the nation.
We are also acknowledging a few California Trail Blazers in the World of Cycling.
- Nelson Vails, 60, is a 1984 Olympic silver medalist and the first African American to medal in cycling.
- The William brothers, Cory and Justin, U.S. National Champions, and California State Champions. This dynamic team brings the beast mode mentality to the world of cycling and their goal is to continue to inspire the next generation of American cyclists.
- Ayesha McGowan, 34, a professional cyclist for Liv Racing, and is also an advocate for the representation of people of color in the bike industry. Ayesha recently became the first African American female professional road cyclist.

We are offering 2 different scenic routes that are self-explanatory so that you can do it on your own or as a group for those that reside or are visiting San Diego. We've developed a racing approach to manage COVID-related risks, so you can expect to ride in a safe and distanced way if you decide to ride with a group. We will provide a low-key and COVID-safe biking environment, for those that would like to ride either of the routes with us. These two routes are just suggestions and are not mandatory. We will meet at the Coronado Tidelands park 2000 Mullinex Dr, Coronado, CA 92118 at 7 am and ride out at 8 am to do an out and back route.
The physical distance of 6+ feet and a face mask/cover is required for all non-related or non-daily contact individuals in compliance with COVID-19 precautions. The highest level of safety precautions for the municipalities and districts the ride goes through should be followed. This includes CDC Guidelines requiring face coverings.
