WHO WE SERVE

• The preschool child who lives in a home that doesn't contain a single book.
• The child who feels alienated and angry because they struggle to read as well as their friends.
• The family who lives in poverty because their parents don't have the literacy skills to qualify for a job with a sustaining wage.

THE NEED IN PALM BEACH COUNTY

• 22.2% of adults age 16 and older lack basic literacy skills and can't fill out a job application or read a bus schedule.
• 46% of third-grade students read below grade level, begin to fall behind in every subject, not just language arts, and are at greater risk of dropping out of school.
