2022 Thanksgiving Wattle Lifetime Award Winner
Each Thanksgiving Morning, just prior to the Thanksgiving Wattle 5K start, we award a citizen from the Grove City area with the Thanksgiving Wattle Lifetime Impact Award. This is given to a person who has made a significant impact on those around them. These are often behind the scenes, unassuming people, who desire no recognition and are just using their gifts to help others. This year is no different. We would like to announce that Sharon Downs of Grove City, will be named the 2022 Wattle Lifetime Impact Award Winner. We will plant a tree with a plaque in her honor in a Grove City Park. During the ceremonies we will also award her with an “in the home” plaque and other gifts.
Sharon is legendary in Grove City, having lived here her entire life. Endless stories are to be told of her modest upbringing and her desire to give back to the Grove City Community. Owning a hair styling shop and owning the first ever outdoor seating restaurant on Broadway, she could gauge the pulse of the city through her loyal customer following. Her senses were sharpened via these experiences to the various needs of the community while she went about her daily life.
