Description

CANCELLED!!! Weather is always a factor...

This is already more rain than was expected and now it is supposed to rain through the night. There's no way for the mud to dry out by Sunday and Sunday morning is going to be below freezing with the wind chill. I'll do cold, I'll do wet, but I don't do cold & wet. These rides will be a regular part of repertoire going forward. You will be the first to know when we schedule the next one.

The Spinistry Crew

Hoots for wise and experienced riders and Nannies for those who might be newer to riding gravel and wanting some guidance and wisdom from some experienced riders. Rides like this are an additional benefit of a Club Spinistry membership. Routes will be available once they are verified (no later than Wednesday).

We will meet at Old Celina Park pavilion. We will have a short & mandatory meeting at 8:50. Please arrive with plenty of time to be ready at meeting time. All riders are expected to have the routes loaded to a navigation device and know how to use that navigation device. These routes are NOT marked. This is a self supported club ride, there are no sag vehicles or aid stations/water tables. Riders will need to make their own arrangements for transportation if unable to complete the ride. Riders will need to carry all nutrition and hydration to complete their ride. Unable to carry enough for the full distance? Please plan to ride a shorter distance.

Ride configurations are as follows:

Hootenanny Riders will go out first. This one is meant for the experienced riders who plan to drop or be dropped by others and plan to get done in the fastest time possible.

Hoot Riders are those who are happy to share their experience and knowledge at a more leisurely pace with others that might be ramping up their skills and experience. Hoot riders are welcome to join any distance group that they are comfortable with.

Nanny Riders are those who are newer to gravel riding that are looking for tips, advice and knowledge. Please note, this is meant for new gravel riders, not new cyclists. Nanny riders should be fit enough to complete a 30 mile mixed surface ride (2-3 hours of riding). Riders should know how (and have to tools needed) to  fix and flat tire and other roadside repairs. Riders should already know how to use their navigation device. We provide free access to the Ride With GPS navigation app for all riders but it is the riders' responsibility to already have the routes setup and know how to use the app if they don't have another navigation device.

For the purposes of this ride "No Drop" does not mean that the pace will be slowed down to accommodate the slowest riders. No drop means that the slowest riders will always have a sweep rider/vehicle with or behind them. Do not leave the route without informing the sweep. If you are unsure which direction to go (navigation malfunction) stay in place on the route and wait for the sweep/other riders.

This is a mixed surface (paved and unpaved) ride all on public roads. Riders are expected to adhere to the Texas Transportation code. Routes are approximately 33%-45% unpaved but some "paved" sections are very rough. These routes are not appropriate for traditional road bikes.
