Back for another year!
The D&L Trail-A-Thon is a virtual, fundraising event hosted by the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
New this year: The DLNHC will be hosting an in-person event with walk, run, and bike groups to build community and keep you motivated!
Available discount(s):
- For those who enjoy multiple activities, you'll get a $10 discount when you sign up for two or more events, for example, walk and bike, run and bike, or do all three!
- D&L Trail-A-Thon participants are eligible for a discount on registration for the St. Luke's D&L RaceFest marathon, half marathon run, half marathon run/walk, and half marathon walk categories. If you have already registered for RaceFest, please contact communications@delawareandlehigh.org to receive the retroactive discount.
The main level challenges runners and walkers to complete at least four cumulative half-marathon (13.1-mile) distances, a total of 52.4 miles (that's less than 2 miles a day!). Cyclists are challenged to complete the length of the D&L Trail, a total of 165 miles during the month (41.25 miles a week or 5.5 miles a day). These are great goals for anyone just starting out or trying to get into a regular exercise routine. You can accrue the miles anywhere; they don't have to be on the D&L Trail itself. We've had people from across the country participate, and some even did it while in New Zealand and The Netherlands.
The super level challenges avid runners and walkers to complete a marathon (26.2 miles) every week for a total of 104.8 miles (that's less than 4 miles a day!) and challenges avid cyclists to complete two lengths of the D&L Trail (330 miles or 11 miles a day). This level is for experienced walkers, runners, and cyclists who've crushed the event in past years or motivated newcomers.
Miles can be accrued anywhere, anytime between April 1 and April 30. You select where, when, and how, then register your miles easily on RunSignup’s website. A real-time Leader Board will engage your competitiveness. You can race against a personal mileage goal or simply participate for fun and fitness.
100% of proceeds from the D&L Trail-A-Thon support trail building and programming along the wonderful D&L Trail. If you love the D&L Trail and our region's great outdoor areas, we ask you to join us in this year’s event. Please consider creating your own fundraiser in support of the D&L Trail too! It's easy to do! On the donate page, choose "Become a Fundraiser" and share with family and friends!
***Disclaimer: Do not run, walk, or bike on unsafe or closed roads (trails, roads, parks). Follow all guidelines and requirements set forth by local, state, and federal agencies.***
Logging Your Miles
You will be logging your miles directly into the RunSignup system. You will get an email with instructions for you to upload directly. If you do not get the email, follow the instructions below. You will not be able to enter data until the Trail-A-Thon start date. If you are having any trouble, please contact Michele Stanten.
- Log into RunSignup first. If you are not logged in, you cannot post results. If you were already logged in and having trouble, try logging out of RunSignup and then logging back in again. If you forgot your password, you can have it reset: https://runsignup.com/Login.
- Go to "LOG MY MILES" on the main page, search for your name and click Lookup Registration.
- This will bring you to your information. You can then click on "Submit Virtual Results."
- You MUST enter the Date and Distance for your run, bike, or walk. The comment box is optional and is for your reference only. We will not be reviewing the info in that field.
- If you had multiple workouts that day, you can enter each new run/bike/walk by clicking the "Add Another Activity" button. If you do 2 runs/bikes/walks in 1 day, you can add them together or separately, whichever you prefer. You can update your time and miles daily, every other day, once a week, or whatever you prefer.
- Do not forget to hit "submit results" when you are done!
FAQ

Q: Do I have to be in Pennsylvania to complete the event?
A: No! You can complete the event from anywhere in the world!
Q: Can I run, walk, or bike on trails?
A: Yes! Running, walking, hiking, or biking on any surface counts - roads, trails, greenways, treadmills, or trainers.
Q: What if I'm signed up for other virtual events?
A: If you're participating in a virtual race like a 5K or 10K between the dates of April 1 - April 30, you can also count those miles toward your D&L Trail-A-Thon distance!
Q: Can I complete the Trail-A-Thon with friends?
A: Yes! We would love for you to get your friends involved. However, each person must register individually. There are no relay teams in this event.
