Race Day Instructions
Race day is basically here! Some quick housekeeping for Saturday morning!
- Please park in the upper lot (by heading STRAIGHT into the campus)
- Please show up as early as 9 and ideally before 9:30 (especially if you have Kids Fun Runners), so bib/goodie bag pickup goes smooth & we can start the races on time!
- We will have coffee, pastries, and other snacks for before and after!
- You can see race course and facilities map here! Also see FAQs here! (one of them is to leave fur friends at home)
- Bathrooms will be in the fieldhouse (right behind where bib pick up is)
- Some portions of the 5k are shared driveways/roads. We will have volunteers working to keep everyone safe, but YOU can keep yourself the safest by staying aware :)
Timeline of the morning:
- 9am - Begin race check in
- 9:45ish (no earlier) - Kids Run Start
- 10am - Walkers can get an early start if desired (or any wanting extra time)
- 10:01am - A quick word from Neighborhood House (walkers, you should be able to hear as you walk around the track :) )
- 10:15am - 5k start for all
- 11:00am - Raffle starts
- 11:30am - Goodbye if you haven't already left. See you next year!
The sun in the forecast may have been too good to be true, but it's still looking dry! :)

Description
We are back again at OES in SW Portland, starting at 9:45 with kids and the 5k to follow at 10:15!
Every spring, multiple Southwest Portland Faith Organizations and Community Partners join hands to meet the need of hunger specifically, by working to supply Neighborhood House’s food pantry, the largest food pantry west of the Willamette. This joint effort is known as the Southwest Hope Campaign. Since 2016, Missio Church has organized the SW Hope 5k as a culmination of the greater campaign.
What can $1 buy me at a grocery store? One, maybe two, canned goods at the most. For $1, Neighborhood House can buy 4 pounds of food directly from Oregon Food Bank. We quickly realized we could turn a simple canned food drive into a huge tool to empower Neighborhood House and reach hundreds more hungry neighbors.
This is where you come in. We invite you to run with us in our fifth annual SW Hope Feed the Hungry 5K because each $1 we raise together far outweighs it’s worth in canned goods individually. If we run together, our neighbors here in SW Portland won’t have to experience the insecurity of not knowing where their next meal is coming from.
