FAQs
What is a Virtual Event?
A virtual race can be run (or walked!) anytime and anywhere, even indoors on a treadmill. The LAA 2022 Virtual 5K will be held throughout the month of July 2022. Complete your distance on the 4th or on any other day throughout the month of July.
How do the LAA July Virtual Events work?
Simply register for the virtual option that suits you best. You will receive information regarding swag pick-up as we get closer to July. You will be emailed a digital bib in case you want to print it and wear it while you run. Complete the distance anytime and anywhere you desire during the month of July. We encourage you to wear your favorite 4th of July t-shirt while completing it. Lastly, snap a picture and share it with us on social media using #LAA5K
Do I have to complete the entire distance all at once?
It’s your vacation! You make the rules! The great thing about a virtual race is that you get to design it how you would like.
- If you are on the beach and want to walk one mile three mornings in a row, wear your race t-shirt and bib on one of the days and snap a picture you can share with us.
- If you want to hike a mountain with your family, wear your t-shirts and snap a picture at the top to share with us!
- If you want to run the whole distance all by yourself to see how fast you can finish, go for it. Take a picture of your watch or screen capture your timing app results and share it along with a picture of yourself in your race gear.
Any way you want to cover the distance is fine with us! We can’t wait to see the variety of ways people decide to participate. Surprise us!!
Do I have to track my distance and submit my results?
The LAA July 4th Virtual Events are based on the honor system. We want as many people as possible to participate and feel part of an online running community. Your results are your business. If you want to share them, we would love to see them! But if you don’t even want to track your activity, that is ok too. This is about having fun, sharing your experience and supporting the LAA.
How do I become a fundraiser?
During the registration process, you will be asked if you want to become a fundraiser or give a donation. If you would like to become a fundraiser so you can include family members and friends in your event, click the button Become a Fundraiser. You will be walked through how to set up your fundraising page. Have as much fun with it as you want! From there, you can share your personal link with family, friends, co-workers, and post it on your favorite social media pages. Ask people to sponsor your run!
