Place

Run Camp will meet at the Portage YMCA for the first two weeks of the start of each program. Then we will travel to different destinations around the community.

Description

Run Kalamazoo Run Camp is excited for the 2024/2025 season!  This year we're offering some new programs and new add-ons to support you with your goals!

21-week Camp:

Starts: Saturday,  December 7, 2024

Programs:

  • Full Marathon Training
    • This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a full marathon be it their first or 15th marathon!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the full marathon!
  • Half Marathon Training
    • This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a half marathon!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the half marathon!
  • NEW!  Get Your Move On Program
    • Piloted last year and officially newly offered this year - This training program is designed for individuals who want to keep moving through the winter with friends!  This program is designed for walkers, runners, and everyone in between.  The goal is to keep your body moving however movement looks for you.  The training guide begins at 20 minutes of movement and builds from there.  Participants who are starting new in this program will be prepared to walk or run a 10K comfortably by the end of training.

13-week Camp:

  • Half Marathon Training:
    • This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a half marathon!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the half marathon!
  • 10K Training:
    • This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a 10K!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the 10K!
  • 5K Training
    • This training program is designed for individuals hoping to complete a 5K!  Whatever your pace, we've got you covered.  We even have walk/run groups who train for the 5K!
  • NEW!  Get Your Walk On Program:
    • Newly offered this year - This training program is designed for individuals who would like to walk to build health in community. 
    • Participants who are starting new in this program will be prepared to walk a 5K comfortably by the end of training.
    • Participants may include those who...
      • ...aren't ready to run distances but want to see what it's about.
      • ...choose not to run.
      • ...are unable to run.
      • ...or have a reason all their own - whoever you are and whyever you choose, we are here to walk with you!

Add-On Options

First and foremost, we are dedicated to creating a space for beginners and veterans alike to move and connect to your teammates.  Our training programs are made for those who are just starting out or who are just starting over.  Wherever you find yourself, the programs will get you to your finish line.  That said, we are also dedicated to meeting our participants where they are at.  That's why we are adding the following new options listed below to add to your program. 

  • Individualized Plan $15
    • Have a goal time in mind?  Want to compete in your event and need a plan that will get you there?  We can modify the training plans to fit your goals and needs.  
    • Complete a survey about your goals and current fitness level.
    • Receive a PDF of a customized training plan based on your survey and unique goals!
    • Don't know how to gauge your fitness?  We will host an optional mile time trial for you to get your time.
  • Accountability Group $35
    • Need some added accountability mid-week?  Join a virtual group session for 60 minutes each week!
    • Group sessions offer 15-20 minutes of interactive content unique to the accountability group including strength, stretching, mindset work, and more; and an additional 35-40 minutes of group coaching facilitated by a certified coach.
    • Haven’t experienced group coaching for accountability?  It’s pretty awesome and effective!
  • One-on-One Coaching $65
    • (Offered to Full and Half programs only and limited to 20 participants for 21 week camp and 10 participants for 13 week camp)
    • Want to really dig deep and take it to the next level?  Are you a data nerd who loves customization?  Want to try out having your own run coach?  We've got you!  We use Final Surge, an interactive log where your coach can upload your custom plan and you can input your data.  In this program you will receive the following:
      • Two 30 minute sessions with your certified coach - one on-boarding session prior to the start of camp; one session near taper time (about 2-4 weeks from race day)
      • Complete a survey to share your current fitness level and specific goals
      • Optional time trial mile (good for beginners or those starting over)
      • Individualized interactive plan on Final Surge (enter your data or sync with Garmin, Stryd, Strava, Apple Watch, Polar)
      • Monthly plan monitoring and modifications as needed with a monthly in depth email explaining modifications and offering tips and guidance
      • Up to 2 emails for trouble-shooting with your coach per week
      • Note: you still get to pick our brains every Saturday with your Run Camp membership and have access to the sports medical professionals and the fun of your group!

Please note: we build our training plans to lead up to our hometown event, The Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon, Half, 10K run, 5K run, and 5K walk.  If you plan to participate in another spring event, let us know.  We have pre-modified plans that lead up to each weekend starting the weekend of April 26th through May 31st without sacrificing most of your weekend group runs with your Run Camp team.  These plans are also for beginners.
