DREAM of Hattiesburg, Inc. (DOH), is an over 30-year old 501(c) 3 non-profit, community-based substance abuse prevention agency certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Services (BADS). DREAM of Hattiesburg, Inc.’s mission is to prevent and/or reduce the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD).
DREAM of Hattiesburg RADAR Resource Center provides ATOD abuse prevention print materials (posters, curriculum resources, DVD/video checkout, and brochures) in South Mississippi and also offers training and technical assistance in community mobilization, coalition development, youth leadership development, experiential learning, service-learning, evaluation, ATOD abuse prevention (marijuana, underage drinking, merchant education, suicide prevention, and prescription drug abuse) and other related topics. DOH’s community-based prevention activities and effective evidence-based prevention programming (i.e., Communities Mobilizing for Change on Alcohol, Positive Action, Project Towards No Drugs, Project Northland: Amazing Alternatives/Slick Tracy, Life Skills) is offered to children and youth in high-risk environments and schools in South Mississippi. DREAM of Hattiesburg, Inc. assists in the coordination of the Mississippi Southern Coalition and DREAM Community Planning Coalition, both of which represent partnerships of agencies working together on prevention activities in South Mississippi.
