Impact
One in five Californians spends more than half their income to stay housed. The housing crisis affects us all, and it’s a crisis that takes a community to solve. That’s why we come together for Cycle of Hope.
Cycle of Hope is for you, if you believe that something can – and has to – be done about housing. When you ride Cycle of Hope, you’re riding for those 1 in 5 families who are overburdened by housing costs. You ride for the 82% of households in the Bay Area who can’t afford to buy a median-priced home.
When you ride Cycle of Hope, you ride to make significant change for people and communities.
And, you ride because it’s not just a crisis of numbers. It’s a human crisis – and this community has the power to change it.

Paying it Forward: From One Habitat Family to Another
For over 30 years, a Habitat home in Oakland was filled with memories and the laughter of five growing children. When those children inherited their beloved home – its mortgage paid off and resale restrictions expired – they had the opportunity to sell it for a major windfall on the open market. Instead, they did what they know their parents would have wanted: sold it affordably back to Habitat, so that we could open the door to homeownership for a new Habitat family. Now that home is about to be filled with growing children again, and we celebrate a new chapter in its amazing story of love, generosity, and paying it forward.
