Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival

Help me in my effort to raise money for the Old Fort Strong Fund. I’m not from the Appalachian mountains. My roots are, and a part of my heart will always be, in New York. Yup, I’m a Yankee. But this place adopted me. When I moved here 14 years ago, these mountains felt like truly coming home to myself. I cannot claim to be Appalachian strong, that title belongs to the men and women whose roots do lie in these beautiful mountains, and I’d like to run for them. I’d like to be part of raising money to help them restore all that they lost. I aspire to be that strong.   
This fund is dedicated to helping support community members in Old Fort who have lost their homes or had significant damage to their homes and will not receive any help to pay for rebuilding from insurance.  Due to the massive flooding that took place outside of historic flood zones, many homes did not have flood insurance to cover this cost.  In total 50+ homes were lost in McDowell County alone.  The goal is to raise $2,000,000 from this event alone to help in this cause.  All donations will go directly to helping those in need in our community.
