Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival

As many folks know, Hurricane Helene has devastated Western North Carolina, the place where Stiles and I call home. WNC is where we live, work, explore, recreate, fell in love, and hope to raise our family one day. The rebuilding and revitalization of all the small communities surrounding Asheville is pivotal for the future of our mountain home and all of the people who live here.  Old Fort is one of those small towns just outside Asheville that we absolutely adore and which suffered great loss in the Hurricane. The community, the biking, the small town charm, etc. is why I am running. The people who have lost their homes and have no insurance to help them rebuild is why I am running. The people who have died, both accounted for and unaccounted for, is why I’m running. And in recognition of the incredible ongoing support we in WNC have received is why I am running.  I am planning to run for 24 hours in hopes of raising money for the rebuild efforts in Old Fort. Stiles is leading my support team and will help pace me during the night hours. This is something we are doing together for the place and community we call home and the people we share our lives with. 

Please help me in my effort to raise money for the Old Fort Strong Fund. This fund is dedicated to helping support community members in Old Fort who have lost their homes or had significant damage to their homes and will not receive any help to pay for rebuilding from insurance.  Due to the massive flooding that took place outside of historic flood zones, many homes did not have flood insurance to cover this cost.  In total 50+ homes were lost in McDowell County alone.  The goal is to raise $3,000,000 from this event to help families recover and rebuild.  All donations will go directly to helping those in need in our community.
