Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival

As all who know me know well, the mountains of Western North Carolina are my sanctuary and seeing the impact that Helene has had on so many areas near to my heart has been devastating. Particularly close to me is the community of Old Fort, which has served as my home base for many races and training weekends. I love these trails and these people.  Seeing Camp Grier, a place where I finished a 100 mile race just last spring, transform from a finish line to a gathering place for meals, showers, supplies and conversation has shown what we can do as a community and these past weeks are only the beginning. Please consider supporting me as I participate in the Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival in December to raise funds to rebuild Old Fort.

The Old Fort Strong Fund is dedicated to helping support community members in Old Fort who have lost their homes or had significant damage to their homes and will not receive any help to pay for rebuilding from insurance.  Due to the massive flooding that took place outside of historic flood zones, many homes did not have flood insurance to cover this cost.  In total 50+ homes were lost in McDowell County alone.  The goal is to raise $2,000,000 from this event alone to help in this cause.  All donations will go directly to helping those in need in our community.
