The Westside Future Fund’s inaugural Ride for the Westside is Saturday, October 22nd. It’s a high-visibility run-walk-bike event that will raise awareness and funding to equitably revitalize Atlanta’s Historic Westside. Ride for the Westside will bring Atlantans from all walks of life together to get active and connect for the benefit of our neighbors in need.
Westside Future Fund’s Home on the Westside program offers quality cradle-to-career education and affordable housing to vulnerable residents of Atlanta's Historic Westside. Beneficiaries of our work will include long-time community members and residents who earn – on average – around 30% of the area median income (AMI). Home on the Westside features key services that impact our communities:
1) Down payment assistance provides up to $60,000 per recipient (50%-80% AMI), as “last dollar in” funds when residents qualify for a mortgage and WFF’s community retention guidelines.
2) Acquisition and construction of new multifamily housing units, with a goal to provide 800 units of high-quality affordable housing on the Westside by 2025, improving economic mobility for families earning under 60% AMI, a demographic deeply underserved by the majority of new affordable housing developments in our market.
3) Helping families face rising property taxes through our Anti-Displacement Tax Fund, launched to help longtime Westside homeowners stay in their homes even as costs increase. Of an estimated 600 eligible homeowners, 134 have been approved to date.
Philanthropic investments help vulnerable families in the Westside have a healthier, and more stable future. These activities are an important component of our overall focus on equitable community revitalization, ensuring our city is a place where people of every race and income level can live, work, and thrive. Further details are attached.
I would love for you to join me on Saturday, October 22nd at 8:00 am for our inaugural Ride for the Westside community in motion event!
XO,
Natasha
