Purple Heart Homes (PHH) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides services to military veterans. They provide critical home repairs and renovations to help veterans live independently in their homes. This could be anything from installing a wheelchair ramp to the front door, installing Air Conditioning units to homes with no AC, etc. The organization also builds tiny homes to meet transitional and emergency housing needs for Veterans.
As a military veteran myself, this organization really means a lot to me. I've built friendships with some of the staff and their drive and passion is inspiring to say the least.
Take That Hill is a cycling race that puts participants through a bit of "suffering" of their own as we climb Barrett Mountain near Statesville, NC. Each participant is given a folded flag to carry from the bottom to the top in remembrance of those men and women who've sacrificed themselves for this great country of ours.
