Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival

Greetings, everyone! 

Since moving to Asheville in 2022, I've fallen in love with the mountains, trails, and small towns that pepper the landscape.  I've run in nine trail races and it's safe to say I'm officially addicted to them.  So, when I recently learned of a Hurricane Helene benefit run put on by the best race organizer out there (seriously, he starts all his races by playing the banjo), I knew I had to join up.  Details of the fundraiser are below.  Unfortunately, the 200 available slots sold out quicker than I could register, which left me bummed.  However, they added a virtual option for people to join, which I'll be doing on the same day and at the same time.  I've come up with a trail loop that matches the distance and elevation gain/loss (3.5 miles and 700 feet) that their run will do, and I'll keep putting one foot in front of the other for six hours to see how many laps I can complete.  If you're able and would like to donate to the cause, any amount is greatly appreciated.  There isn't a "donate per lap" option, but at a minimum I will shoot for eight laps to pass the marathon distance, if you'd like to do some math and donate accordingly.

DETAILS: Help me in my effort to raise money for the Old Fort Strong Fund. This fund is dedicated to helping support community members in Old Fort who have lost their homes or had significant damage to their homes and will not receive any help to pay for rebuilding from insurance.  Due to the massive flooding that took place outside of historic flood zones, many homes did not have flood insurance to cover this cost.  In total 50+ homes were lost in McDowell County alone.  The goal is to raise $2,000,000 from this event alone to help in this cause.  All donations will go directly to helping those in need in our community.
