I am so excited to train with my Thea Angela to participate in the 37th Annual Ben to the Shore bike ride! We will ride 65 miles from the Ben Franklin Bridge, across state lines and up the coast to Atlantic City (though to Philadelphias, "down the shore"). Biking has been a part of my life forever and it is something that has always brought me joy. It also feels like the most cost effective, energy efficient, and just fun way to keep my dad's memory alive. He taught me how to ride a bike and how to lose my training wheels on the little street in Holland that he grew up on. I have strong memories of us riding through the flat landscape there, me whining of exhaustion and him pushing my back to relieve my tiered legs. I know that if he were still here, he would be doing this bike right along aside Thea Angela and I... or at least meet us at the end in AC with his digital camera ready.

The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving the lives of children in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We achieve this by providing necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs) and cultivating positive relationships and interactions between police officers and the children in the communities they serve.
