Epilepsy is more than seizures. Every story matters in this fight. Here is my personal story of WHY this matters..
As many of you know, we have participated in the walk for over 20 years. Jake is turning 26 next month! How did that happen? This means that Jake has dealt with Epilepsy for over a quarter of a century! I cannot help but sit back and think about the impact those seizures and medications have had on his life and his brain. Yet he is an amazing young man who has and continues to overcome many hurdles. Most of you are aware, the last several months have been very challenging for Jake, as his seizures have unfortunately taken a turn for the worse. New seizure types and new medications are being navigated and we struggle daily with the effects of both his seizures and the side effects of his medications. We take it one day at a time. Jake lives in the moment and always has a great attitude and such a positive outlook.
They say it takes a village and indeed it does. We would like to thank all the amazing people we have met along this journey; family, friends, doctors, healthcare works, to name a few and of course the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego, who have connected us with so many other families living with Epilepsy.
As many of you know, this cause is very close to our hearts and we appreciate you supporting our efforts. EFSD works tirelessly to offer advocacy, counseling, support and programs for people and families living with Epilepsy.

Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk San Diego is a 15-mile Bike Ride or 5K Run/Walk that is very important to me. I am raising money to help The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County so they can provide wraparound support services and programs at no cost to individuals and families affected by epilepsy. Please help me support this cause and spread awareness for epilepsy.
