Story

Hi, thanks for visiting my page!

On February 11, I’ll be participating in RUN 24.7, the exhilarating Chesed 24/7 5K Walk-Run-Raise alongside hundreds of women.  I am excited to be participating in this run for the second year in a row, but more importantly, to raise awareness and support for Chesed 24/7, an incredible organization close to my heart. Among many other services, the organization operates Chesed hospitality rooms that are a lifeline to patients and their loved ones.  Chesed 24/7’s philosophy is that no one should ever be without food, shelter, and emotional support – no one should ever feel alone.  To that end, the organization provides assistance whenever and wherever it can – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

As someone who has personally experienced the strain of having a loved one hospitalized for an extended period of time, I deeply understand the importance of support during these types of challenging times.  My father was admitted to Calvary Hospital on the second night of Chanukah 2022, for what ended up being a 6 week stay before his passing. The discovery of a fully stocked kosher hospitality room just down the hall became a beacon of relief and comfort amidst the uncertainty.  The thoughtful provision of fresh and plentiful kosher meals/snacks and essential items, like Chanukah menorahs (scroll to see picture), became a haven for my family while we navigated a difficult time.  With no kosher restaurants or supermarkets nearby, the Chesed 24/7 hospitality room alleviated the stress associated with ensuring that we had access to suitable food and other essentials. This experience highlighted the significance of organizations that go the extra miles to ensure that hospital stays are more bearable for families like mine.  Now, I am committed to giving back to this organization that played a crucial role in our journey, in memory of my dear father, Isaac Levin/Yitzchak ben Shlomo, a"h.

I ask you to think of someone you know who is or was in the hospital. Think of what the Chesed room means to them. With your donation, you’ll be ensuring that thousands of patients have the meals, coffee, snacks, and other essentials they count on, from Shabbos candles to Chanukah menorahs and Seder plates!

My run is also dedicated liluy nishamt Liel Namdar/Liel Dina bat Efraim a"h, a beautiful teenage girl from my Great Neck community who passed away tragically in a car accident in December of 2021.  Among many other things, Liel is remembered for the way she "lived, loved, laughed & learned" not just for herself, but for everyone around her. She had a contagious smile that lit up the world, and in her memory we are dedicated to Smile for Liel and Live4Liel!  Our Great Neck community is not the same without her.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal and together, we’ll Keep the Rooms Running.  It’ll mean so much to me to know that I have your support as I make my way through 5K of track in the American Dream Mall.

All my love,

Meeka
