Next May, I’ll be riding in the 2025 UNBOUND Gravel 200 race on behalf of the Chris Klug Foundation (CKF), a nonprofit that educates on the importance of organ donation. Why support CKF? Simple...the most brutally difficult 200 mile, 95 degree, full throttle, 10 hour bike race is easier than what many people face every second of every day. "Hard could be way harder" is a beautifully balanced, grounded mindset. It enables us to be thankful for what we have and connect with others in a consistently positive manner. It says to me that I'm extremely lucky to have the opportunity to go "suffer" on a bike for a bit and that I should be using whatever abilities and platform I have to help others.
What exactly does CKF do? Consider this: Over 103,000 people in the U.S. are awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant. Just one person has the ability to save up to 8 lives as an organ donor and improve up to 75 lives through tissue and eye donation. Although 95% of U.S. adults support the idea of organ donation, only 48% are actually registered as organ donors. CKF is making huge strides to educate people of all ages, with the goal of registering more individuals as organ donors across the U.S., in the hopes of one day eliminating the wait for transplant nationwide. Please help me raise the funds they need to continue their lifesaving mission. The smallest amount helps and 100% of your donation is tax-deductible.
