Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation's Friends of the Cancer Center was organized in 1988 with the single purpose of providing the support that helps cancer patients and their families cope with the disease. Today, there are more than 50 volunteers working with cancer patients through the foundation.
Friends of the Cancer Center volunteers are ordinary people from all walks of life who have a strong interest in volunteering their time to work with cancer patients and their families. Many of them have been touched by cancer in some way. Some are cancer survivors; others have had a loved one with cancer and have been profoundly affected by the experience.
Friends of the Cancer Center volunteers sponsor a variety of programs, making a real difference in a cancer patient's adjustment to his disease.
