RUN 24.7

The Chesed 24/7 bikur cholim rooms provide so much more than food.  

In 2019, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was so lucky that there was a Chesed 24/7 bikur cholim room in the hospital at which I was treated.  The bikur cholim room became part of my chemo ritual.  I'd go to the infusion center for a blood test. They'd wrap up my IV line. And I'd head over to the bikur cholim room for a hot drink and a morning snack.  When COVID hit, the room closed. And my treatment became lonelier.  Its not just a room with food.  Its a haven.  Walking into the room, you can feel the ahavas Yisrael.  I felt taken care of by strangers that I'd never meet.  Someone has thought of everything.  From reading material and sifrei Tehillim, to phone chargers.  From breakfast through dinner and special food for shabbos.  And of course, the blintzes.  I can't explain it but the blintzes actually made my chemo treatments and in-patient experience a little easier.
